Social contacts are profiles with a social media username and an email or phone number.

Social contacts are specifically just the profiles in your Gatsby account that can sync with integrations, typically when an Instagram User provides you with their email or phone.
Even if your brand has lots of Instagram followers or lots of email and SMS subscribers already, most companies start with zero social contacts.
While profiles are created for all Instagram users tagging or DMing you, without email or phone, they're simply called "Social Profiles". Each plan includes 10x the social profiles at no extra cost. For example, with 5,000 social contacts, you can have up to 50,000 social profiles.
Brands with no social contacts can have up to 2,500 Social Profiles before moving up to the next volume tier. There's no limit on the amount of UGC tracked per profile or contact.
Most brands are new to building social contacts. Many of our clients join Gatsby without previously collecting their customers' social usernames.
This means you're likely beginning with zero social contacts in Gatsby, or perhaps importing influencers you collaborate with.
In the future, the percentage of your total contacts, similar to Klaviyo or Shopify, who become social contacts will depend on how much attention you give to this channel.
It's safe to assume that your number of contacts in Klaviyo will always be larger than the number of social contacts you have in Gatsby. Only a portion of your Klaviyo subscribers will choose to also become social contacts.
Yes, you can archive or suppress any social contacts you no longer want to be tracking Instagram or TikTok content from and therefore exclude them from your billing.
Sure, just contact us and we can implement hard limits on your account, so your billing will never go above your limit. Contacts that you collect after your limit is reached will live in an Archived or Suppressed state which you can activate down the line.

While Klaviyo will be sending the user an SMS to confirm their opt-in, it is suggested that you review the following Suggested SMS Disclosure Information.
You can use automated DMs to send the disclosure information. For example:
We suggest you design a giveaway or other type of campaign around this strategy.
For example, run an Instagram an ad that says something like:
"This weekend only, enter to win XYZ. Simply DM us the word "giveaway" for your chance to win!"
And then you'll simply set up a DM auto-responder so for every person who DM's you that keyword, they get prompted to reply with their phone number. Example:

While Gatsby has powerful integrations with Attentive, Yotpo, Sendlane and others, for the moment, this specific feature of collecting Email & SMS Subscribers from DMs is only supported for Klaviyo. We'll be rolling out support for other platforms soon.
